Bucket List When Visiting Johor Bahru



If you will be visiting Johor for the first time, here is a summarized bucket list that is recommended for you to visit. We hope that this can help to guide you to enjoy your stay in this vibrant city.


All the listed places of interest are not in particular order:


1. The Crown at Istana Bukit Serene


This place is located in front of the entrance to Istana Bukit Serene. The giant Johor Crown is equipped with jewels on top of two crisscrossed arches and is located along Jalan Skudai, Johor Bahru


2. Johor Premium Outlets


This shopping centre is an outlet mall located in Indahpura, Kulai District, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The center offers a wide range of luxury premium brand outlet in Southeast Asia.


3. Danga Bay Fun Fair Park


This fun park is one of the largest recreational parks in the city of Johor Bahru. It is very happening especially during night time. With different rides around the area.


4. Johor Zoo


This zoo is located near the city Center. The entrance is only RM2 per person. The animals are well-taken cared off and there quite a lot of animals that the kids can be seen here. It very educational.


5. LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort


The only LEGOLAND resort in Malaysia which was opened in 2012. As of 2020, this fabulous places offers waterpark, outdoor theme park, Aquarium indoor park (sea life), and hotel accommodation.


6. Marina Walk at Puteri Harbour


Marina walk is located in Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Tanjung Puteri. This place is good for unwinding, sightseeing and hang out with family. This place is best to be visited in the evening at around 5PM to 7 PM.


7. Desaru Ostrich Farm


This is located in Pengerang area. It is about 1-2 hours’ drive from the city centre of Johor Bahru. This park is considered as one of the largest ostrich farm in Malaysia.


8. Desaru Coast Public Beach


This is located along the stretch of Desaru Beach. It’s a great place to chill with family. Its good to drive the vehicle to the beach front and enjoy the sea breeze and beautiful scenery. The beach has also a toilet and shower facilities for the community to use.


9. Clock Tower JB


This is located in the heart of Johor Bahru City center. The place is very happening every evening as some food trucks are available in the area. Its nice to hang out the open space with friend or even with family.


10. Forest City man-made beach


A man made beach facing the Tuas link that links between Singapore and Johor Bahru Malaysia. A nice place to hang out especially along the beach line. Numerous cabanas are within the area for everyone to rest and enjoy.


11. Heritage walk at Jalan Wong A Fook


This is place is one of the oldest structure in Johor Bahru. Some shops that exists during the 1930’to 1950’s still exists. Popular bake shops that does traditional way of baking still exist. Its nice to troll this place during evening form 5pm to 7 pm.


12. Kota Tinggi Water Falls


One of the most visited waterfalls in Johor. A refreshing and cooling water is coming out from Mount Panti. This place is located to about 15 kilometers from Kota Tinggi Town and its about 60-70 kilometres form Johor Bahru city area.


13. Tioman Island Hopping Trip


Island hopping I one of the must do should you be visiting Mersing . Take a boat ride to getto Rawa island, Dayang island, Besar island and experience the crystal clear and pristine water to this amazing island.


14. Hutan Bandar Recreational Park


This is one of the most interesting and beautiful relational parks in Johor Bahru. It has a lot of gorgeous different species of trees and other ornamental plants. It has a long free space for the kids to play with rubberised flooring. The lakes are pretty with a well maintained walk ways. This is good for morning or evening walk.


15. Adda Heights Town Park


This is a great park with amazing landscape of flowers and ornamental plants.

The lake is full of fish with quite a number of ducks. It’s good for the little one to bring their bubbles and play around the area.


16. Desaru Fruit Farm


This farm showcase more than 100 varieties of tropical and local fruits for the public. The place is educational. They also have petting zoo and ATV.


17. Teluk Sengat Crocodile Farm


This farm housed about 1000 crocodiles. They are also considered as pone of the oldest farm in Malaysia They also have their toothless 130- year old crocodile.


18. KSL Pasar Malam (night market)


A very vibrant night market happening every Monday right at the road side of KSL City Mall Mall. Majority of the stall offers food and snacks from different races, clothes, fruits, garments, accessories and many more.


19. Kota Tinggi Museum


The museum displays a glorious and interesting history pf Johor and highlight on the unique cultural activities like dances, musical instrument, paintings and many more.


20. Mall Hopping in Johor Bahru


Johor Bahru is known for shopping. Come and experience a shopping spree for more than 20 different shopping malls around the city of Johor Bahru. Name it and you can buy it here.
