Work Endorsement Allows Foreign Spouse to Legally Work in Malaysia

In relation to the article posted in the blog about “Acquiring Spouse Visa in Malaysia” last January 2016, I forgot to provide a follow-up article on this especially for Spouses who are qualified for a job or who have a job offers from various companies in Malaysia.


To cut the story short, Spouses with job offers are allowed to work legally in Malaysia. All you have to do is to prepare the following documents to obtain a Work Endorsement from the Immigration Office where you’ve taken your Multiple Entry Visa or “Immigration Regulation 1963 VISA PASS (social) Reg.11(10):

  • Surat Tawaran Bekerja daripada Syarikat yang ingin bekerja ( Offer letter From the  Company).

  • Kontrak Pekerjaan Perlu Duti Sestem RM10 di Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN). Your data must include (a.)Jawatan / position (b.)  Gaji yang Ditawarkan (Salary offered) (c.)  Tempoh Bekerja/ Duration

  • Lesen Perniagaan yang sah/ Pendaftaran Syarikat (Borang 9, 24 dan 49). This refers to Company Registration – Form 9, 24, & 49

  • Borang Permohonan (application form)). This will be obtained at the Immigration office to be notarized by a lawyer (about RM6-8). You need to bring with you a passport photo as part of this Application form Requirements.

  • Surat Kebeneran Bekerja Daripada Suami/ Isteri Warganegara (Permission Letter to work from Malaysian Spouse. The content of the letter must have the following:Date of application

  • Letter to the Director (must be in Bahasa)An indication of your passport number including the IC number of your Malaysian spouse.

  • Nationality Signature (from your Malaysian spouse).The letter must all be in Bahasa.

  • Suami dan isteri wajib hadir semasa membuat permohonan (Compulsory Letter to work from spouse).

The processing for this application is within the day. Make sure that you are early during your application.

Filipinos who are under Work Endorsement Programme does not need to register to the Philippine Embassy OFW desk since you are not an Overseas Filipino Worker. But if you want to contribute for your PhilHealth or SSS, there is a help desk there for you to inquire.


They will advise you on the places/ location where to pay your contributions.
