Hello folks, here I am again, sharing to you our wonderful experience during the first birthday celebration of our daughter to this Café somewhere in South Key.
During the earlier part of the year (2019), we’ve been looking for a place to celebrate the first candle blowing of our little princess. We’ve been to other places and I think in my previous blog we have been sharing some horrible experience with one of the Cafés in Nong Chik Riverside Commercial Area. Well, I guess past is past and we’ll just leave it to them to improve their customer service handling.
Going back to the topic, we are lucky to know about this newly opened Café in Komersil Southkey Mozek Persiaran Southkey 1 in Johor Bahru. We went there to try their food and we were impressed with their dish. It was simple and yet the taste was awesome. Then we were able to meet Mr. Christopher, the son of the Cafe's owner to discuss on their catering services.
Anyway, to cut it short, I just wanted to share how wonderful and creative they were when we celebrated the first birthday of my daughter, I would say, this place is a RECOMMENDABLE venue for birthday parties, small gathering, reunions, and other events that requires small functions.
1. Their location
Moons Cafe is located at the ground floor along South Key near the Mozek building. The cafe is equipped with air-con and simple sound system facilities. The place was just an ordinary Cafe at a glance. Well, I guess the concept of the Cafe is just as simple as they wanted to be. So since we rented the Cafe, they were able to help us to decorate with balloons.
The Café has a glass wall divider so the cold air coming from the air-con will not easily come out. And during our event, they mounted our buffet table at the outside part (hallway) of the Café and extended at least three tables outside the Café (just nearby) since we have quite a lot of guests on that evening.
Honestly, the place is not stuffy even when we had our guest chatting with each other.
2. Their Menu
They catered our food based on our requirements and budget. We selected one of their packages (about RM19 per pax) and it was already included with slice cake and drinks.
They have other menus and in addition, they allowed us to select our menu based on our budget. So we can say it’s both win- win for both side. It's kinda customized buffet (soft of).
3. What can our guess say about their menus?
In terms of food, we know that JB has a lot of good food places. Some were even accented with luxurious decorative food presentation just to make it fancier. However, for us, we just selected the common dish such as curry chicken, mixed vegetable, fish fillet, Yang zhou chao fan (fried rice) as we wanted our guest to try truly Malaysian Taste and FYI majority of our guest list are from the older generations that's why we have to be simple with our dishes.
Some of the guests mentioned that the food was reasonable. For taste-wise, they mentioned it’s not that perfect but at least they admitted that "there is that true Malaysian taste out there". The food is thus far 4.5 stars out of 5 which for us was considered perfect.
Good job to the catering team of Moons Café. We love it and hope you can maintain that great taste you have.
By the way, there food is PORK FREE.
4. Customer Service
They have their attentive staff who helped in decorating our place before the event started. The management of the Café allowed us to decorate the place by 5Pm especially our dessert table.
In terms of customer service for the team of Mr. Christopher, we would rate them 5 out of 5. They are very helpful and very considerate to our guests especially the uncles and the aunties who preferred just plain water. They've been helping around to serve them.
They also helped in taking photos of us as we treasure our moments on that lovely evening. They have such a nice team.
It was an awesome service I would say. Kudos to Moons Café for hiring such people who help in uplifting the brand of Moons Café.
5. Ambiance
As an overall review to this place, if you are having guest about 40 pax, the place is still considered okay since they can extend their tables outside which some of the guests preferred to sit on while the event is going on. In addition to that, the outside part was also very relaxing and refreshing. It’s really windy.
In terms of parking, there would be no issue as the place has an ample parking space even on its basement area.
As a customer, I would I can recommend this place 100% as I experienced it on my own. To the team of Christopher, I would humbly say thank you and hope we you serve us again on our future family events.
I passed by this area this morning and I saw the shop is no longer there. The place seems good.
