Today, jom with me as we try out the food of SDS Bakery & Cafe at AEON MALL Bandar Dato' Onn . This shopping mall was opened in 2018. Anyway, the café serves Halal food so let’s find out how was it:
THE AMBIANCE:
The restaurant is not located inside the shopping mall. It is linked to the shopping mall through one of the entrance area of the said mall. It is spacious and quite a relaxing place to hang out for lunch and dinner. The place is clean and well maintained. The rating for me is 8 out of 10.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
We went there during dinner time for a small treat to a colleague. The whole house was not that busy since its in middle of the week. Their staff were accommodating. The place is quite so you all have the time to chit chat with your friends. The staff were also friendly. With our experience, I would rate their customer service as 9 out of 10.
THE FOOD:
We ordered their Yang Zhou Fried Rice set (with their 2 pcs Satay), Oppa Fried Chicken Combo, Herbal Chicken Soup set, Kampung Fried Rice, and some drinks.
The Yang Zou Friend rice is a Chinese-style wok fried rice dish in many Chinese restaurants not only in Malaysia but around the world. SDS style is totally different as they mixed this dish with shrimps, peas, and Satay. Satay is a skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce- made put of peanut and some spicy contents. The food presentation was nice and lovely which was well blended with their fresh lettuce.
The Oppa Fried Chicken Combo seat is both spicy and non-spicy chicken wings. The spicy chicken is very powerful. The set was served hot and it’s just fresh from being fried. I would say the chicken was tasty.
The Herbal Chicken Soup set was serve in a very auspicious way. The chicken is soft and the soup itself is well blended with some spices and herbs that make it very nice. Below the soup is also some veggies and few meats which makes it a powerhouse dish. It is very filling and my palate loved it. The mix vegie underneath were so fresh. It was well steamed and I think it was not overdone.
The Kampung Fried Rice was terrific. It is spicy and I would not recommend this to those non-spicy food eaters. They used Sambal and some anchovies here which makes the taste more classic. This menu was also mixed with 2-peice satay. The Satay was a good combination to this set which give additional flavour to the whole set. The peanut sauce mixed with spicy elements makes it more interesting.
Overall, I would say that the food here is 9 out of 10. They also have other dishes which you can order which may even better from my liking.
MY FOOD RECOMMENDATION:
There are only two things I can recommend here. If you are not a spicy food lover, better take their Yang Zhou Friend Rice set. If you love spicy one, you can go their Kampung Friend Rice. Both have satay for you to enjoy it.
For price-wise, I think these two set is reasonable enough to treat yourself.
