Day trip to Desaru Coast 2020

Updated: Mar 2, 2020

Let me share to you my day trip experience to Desaru Coast. As of January 2020, a new bus service has been in operation to cater to day-trippers from Singapore or Johor Bahru City Center to get to Desaru Coast.

I had the chance to experience this area and it was thus far an amazing trip.

My journey to Desaru Coast via bus service was fantastic. It was an easy and convenient trip as the bus service directly drop me off in Desaru Coast Riverside which is nearby the entrance gate of Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast.

The distance of the waterpark from the bus bay area is about 3-5 minutes walking since it is nearby to that area.

Here are the recommended things you can do if you happen to visit this place for a day trip:

1. Take a bus ride to Desaru Coast from JB Sentral

The bus ride journey is about 75-90 minutes depending on the traffic condition. The bus tickets are available to purchase online and onboard with RM15 per ticket whether you are an adult or a child. According to the bus driver named “Franky”, child below 3 years old is free of charge.

2. Walk around the Riverside of Desaru Coast

You can stroll this place for about 30 minutes. The area has a riverside that is good taking instagrammable photos especially during day time. Have the chance to take a photo in front of their Desaru Coast signage.

Few eating places are available in the area. I have to admit that during our visit, there were not much stalls but we were able to go to a shop (inside the Riverside) that offers quite a variety of local Malay food.

3. Enter the Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast

This waterpark has five zones for everyone to explore. Before entering the waterpark, better start taking photo at the main entrance while your energy and excitement is still on. You might not want to have photo once you exert you energy playing all their rides inside this place.

Tickets can be purchased online.

4. Swing Ship

This replica of a ship arches up to 180-degrees in both direction that bring more exciting feel for all guests. It is a classic Swinging Ship theme ride. This ride will make you wild. Try this out and scream out loud to your the maximum level.

5. Surf Wall

Here is your chance to try a man-made surf ride. I tried it and it was fun. A dedicated waterpark staff is just around the area to coach you before you take the ride.

The surf wall is safe and it has a high energy surf simulator. Should you be taking this ride, ask your friend to take a video of you enjoying this ride. It would definitely be a good memory you will always remember about this area of the waterpark.

6. Super Twister

This ride is equipped with four sensational funnels where you will slide up and down. A good water ride that is fast and really exciting.

In my opinion, I encourage children below 12 years old should not try this for safety purposes.

7. Kraken Revenge

Combination of roller coaster and splashing flume ride. The ride takes 27 netter drop to the shipwrecking Kraken sea monster waiting in the pool of water.

Riders can reach up to 70 km/h as they plummet to a splashing finishing ride. This water ride is first of its kind in Malaysia and the Southeast Asian Region.

Children below 12 years old should not try this for safety purposes.

8. Tidal Wave Beach

This is one of the biggest wave pools in the world. It holds more than 4 million gallons of water and it has about 170-metre long white sand shoreline. Before you are allowed to get inside to this area, you are required to wear swimming attires for safety issues.

The Tidal Wave Pool has a lot of lifeguard to ensure the safety of every guest playing around the area. Cabanas also around the shoreline for you to rest and play with the white sand.

9. Kids Ahoy

This is separated into three age-appropriate play areas: Li’l warriors Hideout, Scallywags and starfish splash. This place has a combination of 13 different water slides.

10. Seafarer Gift Shop

The finishing and the exit area of the this waterpark is at the gift shop area. The shop displays swimwear’s, unique gifts and souvenir items including Adventure Waterpark branded items.
